Sample Paragraph:
The rain came down in thick buckets soaking Manus even through his thick black priest robes. He shivered in his hiding place in the dark alley some where in Graycastle as he waited. He hated the rain but it was the best time for finding lone wandering citizens as they ran for shelter. He was looking for a particular type of person this night. He needed someone young, he would prefer it to be a female they didn't put up as much of a fight. He was no warrior and couldn't do much to subdue a full grown male, even with the power of Shar on his side. He needed the person for a sacrifice to his dark goddess, it had been almost a month since his last and he could feel his power growing weaker. His goddess was a demanding one and if he didn't find her fresh blood soon she would grant him no more power.
As he stood in the shadow his black robes making him almost invisible to the human eye, he saw her. A young girl with long black hair and very thin. She was wearing a thick leather cloak to keep the rain off of her and was moving fast trying to avoid stepping in large puddles of water. "Yes she will do" he thought to himself "she wont put up much of a struggle." As she passed his alley he step out behind her and followed her praying quietly to himself for Shar to quiet his foot steps. He trailed her like a ghost for a few blocks when the girl finally turned down a small alley moving as if she knew this alley well. Manus slipped his long bone thin fingers into his robes and pulled out a small cloth pouch full of potent smelling herbs. He moved fast now with cat like movement and grabbed the girl from behind wrapping one arm under her arm and around her chest. The hand with the pouch wrapped around her neck and he placed the pouch over her mouth and nose. The young girl tried to struggle but as she breathed in the potent herbs her vision blurred and she got weak in the knees, soon she was laying on the ground asleep at Manus's feet.
Manus dropped to his knees leaning over the sleeping young girl. He pulled off her cloak and tunic as he prepared her for sacrifice. From a pocket in his robes Manus took out a charcoal stick and started drawing the symbols of sacrifice on the small girls chest, she was not any older then twelve or thirteen. "Good" he thought "she is so young she must still be pure, this will make Shar happy." As he finished the symbols he drew one last one in the middle of her chest of a large black disk. Manus slipped his arms out of his robes and let it fall down around his waist exposing his thin frame to the cold night rain. He drew forth a dagger of sacrifice from his belt and pulled it out of its sheath. Holding the dagger in both hands and lifting it over his head he looked up at the full moon and prayed.
"Oh great Shar goddess of nightfall I humbly offer you this sacrifice to show my faith and love for you. Grant me the strength to be your hand of death, and guide me on my path of darkness."
With a quick motion he thrust the dagger into the girls chest right in the middle of the black disk he had drawn on her. The girl's eyes opened and she screamed, the scream echoed through the alley and down the streets of Graycastle. Blood from her wound sprayed up in a fine mist covering Manus's face and chest. He pulled the dagger from her body and plunged it into her over and over blood spraying over everything around. When he was done the girl lay still her eyes and mouth left open in a strange expression of pain and fear.
Manus licked the blood from his dagger sheathed it, tucked it away and slipped his robes back over his shoulders. He stood looking down at the corpse and when he heard the sound of soldiers marching he quickly moved off into the shadows and made his way to the temple.
