Pointing the Finger « Thread Started on Jan 13, 2009, 6:47am »
"I don't care how high they are in the priesthood." Dale's two fingers poked the Priestess's neck hard, making her visibly step back, "If I found out one of you meddlesome fakers who call themselves true believers had anything, and I mean anything to do with poisoning my brothers I will have them publicly and slowly eviscerated by a starving Yugolith and their souls will be damned to the most foul tortures the Dark Lady's favorite minions have ever conceived, and if I have to dig they will suffer tenfold that punishment before they shed their mortal coils! Am I speaking plane enough common for you now?!" The woman swallowed, hard, "Yes your highness... I completely understand." "Good." Dale's voice dripped icicles with its tone, "Pass the word on that I will be merciful to any who step forward with the truth and who would be willing to name any conspirators." Chances are they wouldn't be able to name anyone else before Dale choked the life from them, but that is what necromancy was for wasn't it? Turning around Dale whirled out of the office in a flash of darkly colored clothing.

A small smile pulled at the corners of her mouth as she watched the youngest of her surviving sons stride from the temple. He seemed to be heading back toward the palace, so she re-tuned the window to observe the reaction of the Priestess.
The woman had gone from pale with fear to almost purple with rage. She turned and walked, almost stomped down the hallway. She passed Father Primal's office without a glance toward it, she lessened her pace for a moment as she approached Father Ozaner's, but seemed to decide against his advice and instead rapped in the office of the door across the hall which belonged to Father Yourbin.
Upon entering she exploded "That pompous little peacock of a mage demanded I pass on this message." She paused for a breath then continued. "That spoiled brat of a prince DARED to say if he found anyone in the Church had anything to do with his brothers' being poisoned he would wipe us out. AND he questioned our faith to the goddess. " She sounded most insulted over the last statement.
Again there was a pause as the Father replied. She tried to read his lips, but could not quite make out what he was saying. Some conciliatory and noncommittal statement meant to draw out more information she supposed, knowing all too well what sort of follower of the Goddess Father Yourbin was.
"I wish whoever it was had put all of the poison in that self-centered spellslinger's cup. Although it has been more relaxed without Father Chip around as well." She glanced at the now smiling face of the priest and nodded as he spoke at length. Finally she replied, "As you command, Father" and turned to leave.
The Chosen of Shar let the observation window return to the appearance of normal albeit expensive glass. She sat lost in though a quill feather tapping her perfect lips. "Now I wonder who they will sacrifice to Dale's temper", she wondered aloud to the shadows within the chamber. "What fun this will be to watch!" She turned again to the writing desk and the document before her to continue in her work of expanding the Dominion of Shar.

Dale was leaving, but he had a little bird setting up shop in the temple whilst he was away. The invisible imp followed the young priestess around the corner and barely had the time to dodge the door as she slammed it shut, stuck outside the office the imp growled in impatience and started to explore the temple, this would be home for a short while.

Shadows in the temple slid across her like silken veils. She smiled at them as she headed toward her assigned room in the dormitories. She hated sharing the room and usually waited until the priestesses were asleep, but if she wanted to keep everyone else in the dark as to her nature, she had to play the game. Most priests did not look for a demon to be living in the temple. As she passed through the hallway, she caught a scent of home as if she had passed through a mist of perfume hanging in the air.
Stopping she looked around, hopeful that someone had noticed her absence and had come looking for her, perhaps with the intent of breaking the binding in the most satisfactory way. Although She would be just as happy to watch the summoner disemboweled as she would to see him flayed alive. Since SHE could not touch him - on this plane.
